How To Choose The Best Stairlift?
Choosing the best stairlift. How to help my elderly parents. Staying independent.
For my UK readers! This post is linked to a very informative post on Stairliftguru, Learn How to choose the best Stairlift.
Growing old is something we all have to go through.
Watching our family members or even ourselves growing older and more feeble is never a fun task. We naturally want to stay as independent as possible for as LONG as possible. I have worked in the Nursing field for about 8 years and one of the things I hear the most is “I wish I could just go home.” It is the most heart wrenching thing to hear, because you yourself know how great it is to just have a home and be able to live with privacy.
Stairs in the home is a major cause for having to leave your home.
Most Countries now have home care, where a Resident Attendant can go into the elders home and cook and/or clean for them, just doing the everyday things that may now be just too difficult. This is a great thing because it helps the elders keep their independence that much longer. However, another major player in this is a lot of elders have stairs in their homes. This is where stairlifts can help so much, I do not know a whole lot about them so to learn more check out this post: What is the best stairlift to buy?
You don’t even need to live in the UK to learn from this post, it is very informative and I learned a ton from reading it. Such as, I didn’t know stairlifts weren’t good for those confined to a wheelchair.
Saving on Stairlifts is a possibility.
Most Countries offer Government assistance when it comes to making big purchases for elder care. Always do your research as any amount helps. Other options include:
- Buying secondhand.
- Most companies offer payment plans.
- Check with your insurance.
